How we show up for our community

For more than 30 years, we've cared for our neighbors across LA County, with safer use supplies, naloxone, treatment, case management, and a door that's always open. Here's how that work takes shape.

Ways we work

For more than three decades, we've cared for our neighbors across LA County. Here's how that work takes shape.

  • Services

Safer-use and health supplies, naloxone, wound care, connections to treatment, testing, ID documents, benefits - whatever helps you stay healthier (and we mean “whatever”).

  • Outreach

We don't wait for people to find us. Our teams and vans meet folks where they already are, across the county.

  • Advocacy

We work with our community to speak up for the rights and dignity of people who use drugs and push for policies that treat us all as worth protecting.

  • Education

Trainings, safety guides, and know-your-rights information that put knowledge back in the hands of our community.

Programs that meet you where you're at

Care looks different for everyone. Our programs cover overdose response, training, treatment, case management, and safer-use supplies. Use as many or as few services as you need.
  • Get Naloxone & Training

Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution (OEND)

Free naloxone and the training to use it, so you can reverse an overdose and keep the people around you alive.

  • Find Treatment

Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) / Health Navigation

We'll help you navigate your options for reducing or quitting opioids, stimulants, alcohol, tobacco, or cannabis and work with you to coordinate treatment on your own timeline.

  • Intensive Case Management

Let Everyone Advance With Dignity (LEAD)

Referral based one-on-one support to navigate housing, health care, and the services you're entitled to. For people navigating the criminal/legal system.

  • Get Supplies

    Syringe Service Program (SSP)

The heart of CHPLA. Safer-use and health supplies with no ID and no exchange required, plus a door to everything else we offer.

Get naloxone & training

Free naloxone and the training to use it, so you can reverse an overdose and keep the people around you alive.

Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution (OEND)

OEND gets naloxone and overdose response training to the people most likely to need it. It's a program of the LA County Department of Health Services, and we're the team that trains providers, supplies naloxone, and coordinates access points across the county. If you run a program that distributes naloxone, this is your way in.
Go to OEND

Training and Education

Learn to recognize an overdose, give rescue breaths, and use naloxone to reverse it. Trainings for individuals and for staff at partner programs.

Naloxone Access Point (NAP) Sites

NAPs across LA County, hosted by partner organizations with set weekly hours.

Supply Distribution

If your program distributes naloxone or safer use supplies, we can help you stock up and keep your shelves full.

Find treatment

Support getting on medication like methadone, suboxone, or naltrexone, and help coordinating treatment on your own timeline.

Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) / Health

Treatment on your own timeline. Want to know your options for reducing or quitting opioids, stimulants, alcohol, tobacco, or cannabis? We’ll walk you through your options, the pros and cons of various approaches, and help you come up with a plan thats right for you.

There’s a few ways you can get started:

  • Write to us at info@chpla.org
  • Call 323-380-5469 and ask to speak to the MAT/Health Navigator on duty
  • Just drop by during business hours and ask to speak with someone. See our schedule.
