Our mission is to improve the health and well being of people affected by drug use in Los Angeles, to increase access to health care, empower people to protect themselves, and educate each other to reduce harm in our communities.

LACHP combines direct services, advocacy, outreach, education, and research collaborations to fulfill this mission. LA Community Health Project was founded in 1992.

WHAT WE DO

Build Relationships

We create non-judgmental connections with people who use drugs and their communities.

Support Healthy Decisions

People set their own health goals – through collaboration we assist them as they move towards their goals.

Expand Access to Healthcare

We support people as they begin new relationships with health care providers.

Promote Supportive Communities

We train health departments, law enforcement, service providers and other community members on working with people who use drugs. We support people who use  drugs as they advocate for themselves.  We raise awareness of issues that impact the lives of our participants.

OUR VALUES

Non-judgmental care: care without judgment and with respect that meets people where they are at in their lives.

Accessibility: eliminate the barriers to services and delivering those services based on peoples' circumstances.

Right to self-determination: respect and honor individual privacy, freedom, and choice.

Empowerment: provide opportunities for empowering participants to make positive changes in their health and well-being, as well as empower them to make a difference in the well-being of their community.

Positive change: support positive incremental change through options and not through directives.

Relationships: recognize the importance of trust and relationships as the building blocks for successful service provision and positive change.

Whole person - strength-based approach: belief in the resiliencies of people to enhance the well-being of their family and community.
